As requested.....a great little Max set from 1977! All props to original poster - sorry don't remember who's blog I snagged this from. This is primo Max at their best......a radio broadcast done by CFNY Toronto. This station is now one of those damned awful "new music" type things, but back in the day it was a pretty cool place to catch both cutting edge and new music (as in NOT HEARD BEFORE, NOT major label, NOT from California, etc). Can't recall when I started listening to this station, but in the 80's it was THE station to listen to in Toronto. Obviously, they delved into some pretty cool things in the late 70's too (and hats off to them for it)!

Hi there...thanks a million for this!! I used to listen to CFNY before they crapped out to. THE ALL-NIGHT ANDRE had the midnite to six am slot...LIVE EARL JIVE was also one of their premiere dj's, and DAVE MARSDEN was the programme director! LIVE EARL JIVE, whose real name was EARL FIGGINS, used to allow me into the station and I would bring GENESIS, GENTLE GIANT, PINK FLOYD, YES, BOB MARLEY, and other B**TLEGS and he would play them on the air!!! Now how cool was that??? BTW...CFNY was in BRAMPTON at the time of their brilliance, in a little yellow two story house on MAIN ST., and then moved to a bigger, more commercial place on KENNEDY RD., still in BRAMPTON, then when they started making the move toward the more eclectic shit, they packed up for TORONTO, and that was the end of that! It was all downhill...and fast! CFNY, between '77 and '83, were indeed THE SPIRIT OF RADIO!!! nuff Respect, jabs1960 (Michael Kameka)
