Q107 30th Anniversary Party featuring GODDO, H.SUITE, D.WILCOX (REPOST 3/02/13)

"So this is what Grampa does when he leaves the house late at night"

From the mighty Q107 in Toronto - celebrating 30 years of great Rock N' Roll. This night was broadcast live on Q radio on May 24, 2007. There were other artists on this show, but not to my taste (Alanna Myles, etc). But Goddo, Honeymoney Suite and David Wilcox are my fav raves (besides Max Webster which I posted earlier here). Goddo was not overly tight, as they do not play live together much at all these days. I think Goddovitz lives in Calgary now. Honeymoon Suite were rockin', as they had done some road work before this show. As for David Wilcox ? What can you say?? The dude is a legend! Has to be 60 if he's a day, blind as a bat from what I hear, and no doubt hearing like Pete Townshend. They don't play often either, but here he is ripping it up for the fans! Unfortunately I missed part of his set, so it starts about 1/2 way through "Hypnotizing Boogie". He's on my very short list of "definitely need to see live before I kick off" acts.

Sound is pretty good - around 9 I would say - signal wavered at points, but still solid.

Johnny Cash - Live at Glastonbury 6/26/94 (REPOST)

Note: date incorrect on graphic above - this show is from 6/26/94 (thanks to Cortex for correction on this).

Country legend JOHNNY CASH playing UK's legendary "hip" "alternative" festival Glastonbury?? Yeah I asked myself the same question. Snagged this from the Newsgroups (as always - props to posters there!) just to check it all out. Turns out the legend was still in fine form this day in the UK!

He plays with full band, and runs through some classics "Folsom Prison Blues", "Ring of Fire", etc but he aso does Kris Kristopherson's "Sunday Morning Coming Down" which really paints a picture. As well, the haunting "Beast In Me" is a real standout.
Not sure of the source here - could very well be an audience taping, but quality is pretty high. I'd give it an 8.5 at least.
R.I.P. Johnny - you always left 'em wanting more!

Max Webster - Live at Q107's 30th Anniversary Bash (REPOST 3/02/13)

"WE'RE JUST FROSTBITTEN CANADIAN BOYS - HERE TO THIN THE THICKNESS OF YOUR SKIN"

The Toronto Tontos reunite after many a year, in celebration of Q107's 30th anniversary show. For those non Canucks, Q107 is Toronto's premiere classic rock station. One who can take pride in it's efforts to break a ton of Canadian acts from back in the day (Rush, Max Webster, Triumph, David Wilcox, Santers, etc). As well, Max's main man Kim Mitchell now DJ's on the afternoon drive show, and still pushes the Cancon hard.

This show was broadcast live on, of course, Q107 radio May 24, 2007 from the Docks nightclub in Toronto. Also on that bill were Goddo, Honeymoon Suite, David Wilcox, etc. I just pulled out another disc here with those acts on it which I will post in next few days.

Sound is decent, probably an 8.5 to 9. Max is in good form, although a bit ragged on the vocals at times (not surprising after 30 years!?). Overall a fun blast from the past!
